DESCRIPTION
An erect herbaceous annual, 60 - 120 cm high with grooved and gland-dotted stems and branches. Leaves simple, broadly elliptic, rounded and mucronate at apex, clothed with white hairs on both surfaces, covered with numerous black dots, main nerves 5, originating fromm base.

DISTRIBUTION
Globally the species is distributed in Pakistan, India, SriLanka, Myanmar (earlier Burma), China and Arabia. Within India, it is seen along roadsides and waste places of the tropical regions. It is cultivated in several tropical regions of India.

CULTIVATION 
The plant thrives well in areas with low to medium rainfall during summer months and on a variety of soils ranging from sandy, medium loam to black cotton in dry tropical regions of India.
