| AGNIKARMA | |||
|---|---|---|---|
DEFINITION:
Treatment performed by the use of different sources of heat. Therapeutic thermal cauterization can be compared to Agnikarma of Ayurveda, where as accidental burn i.e. termed as Etaratha Dagdha or Pramad Dagdha. INTRODUCTION: Treatment done with the help of Agnikarma (cauterization) has been claimed superior to the Aushadhi (medicinal), Ksharkarma (caustic) & Shastrakarma (surgical treatment), because there are least chances of recurrence. It has been clearly stated in the literature that the disease which are not cured by aushadhi, shastra & kshar they may be cured by the application of Agnikarma. It is safe & effective measures because it provides distruction of Jivanu (microorganism) locally as well as check the bleeding sirasankocha ((vasoconstriction). It is well documented by so many eminent scholars of ayurveda in their research work at M.D. as well as Ph.D. level works at different institutions of India; that Agnikarma is found more effective particularly in cases related to musculoskeletal & neuromuscular disorder like osteoarthritis, sciatica, spondylosis, skin disorders, piles, fistula, tumor, etc INDICATIONS OF AGNIKARMA: • Vitiated vayu has affected to skin, muscle, vessels, ligaments, joints & bones • Severe pain in ulcer with excessive granulation • Indurate tissue • Anesthetic patches, Pigmented moles • Lymph nodes, Lymphadenitis, Elephantitis • Arsha (Piles), Bhangadar (Fistula in ano) • Granthi (Warts), Arbuda (Tumors) • Antraja vridhi (Inguino-scortal hernia) • Traces & sinuses CONTRA INDICATIONS OF AGNIKARMA: • Paittika constitution • Internal bleeding • Ruptured viscera • Unextracted foreign body • Weak • Very young & very old • Timed • Multiple lesions • In those fomentation treatment is contraindicated TYPES OF DAGDHA VRANA: As after Agnikarma Dagdha has been produced so Sushruta described the following type of Dagdha to know the proper Agnikarma. Snigdha Dagdha (scald)- Burn with hot liquids like water, oil, milk, Ghrita, etc Ruksha Dagdha (burn)- Burn with hot dry objects like metal objects. Samyaka Dagdha- i.e.When proper Agnikarma has been performed. Asamyaka Dagdha- i.e.Improper Agnikarma which divided into three sub group i.e. Plushthadagdha, Durdagdha, Atidagdha (A) SAMYAKADAGDHA Symptoms: Twaka Dagdha- • Shabdapradurbhao (Production of audible sound) • Durgandha (Foul smell) • Twakasankocha (Contraction of skin) Mansa Dagdha- • Kapotvarnata (Color like a bird parrot) • Alpa swayathu (Less edema) • Alpa vedana (Less pain) • Shuska sankuchit vranata (Dry contracted wound) Sira-Snayu Dagdha- • Krishna vranata (Black coloration) • Unnata vranata (Raised wound) • Shrava sannirodha (Stoppage of discharge) Sandhi-Asthi Dagdha- • Rukshata (Dryness) • Arunata (Dark red coloration) • Karkashata (Roughness) • Sthirata (Stability) Management: Demulcent ointment made of tugakshiri, plaksha, chandan, gairik, amruta & Ghruta should be applied. Paste of minced flesh of domestic, swampy & aquatic animals should be applied. If severe burning management should be done as for Paittika (abscess). (B) ASAMYAKADAGDHA a) PLUSHTHADAGDHA Symptoms: • Twakavaivarnya (Discoloration of part) • Twakasankocha (Contraction of part) • Shotha (Inflammation) • Daha (Burning pain) Management: Warm up the affected part by gradual heating & apply medicine having heating effect, because when body gets heated blood become fomented & water being cool by nature, readily makes the blood thick. So application of heat is helpful & never that of the cool. Vagbhata (Astang Hradya) describe as a tuccha dagdha b) DURDAGDHA Symptoms: • Sphota (Blebs formation) • Tiwra Daha (Severe burning) • Lalima (Redness) Management: In this both cooling & heating treatments has been done anointing of ghrita & (liquid) sprinklings should be done in cold state only. c) ATIDAGDHA Symptoms: • Mansa Avalamban (Hanging burnt tissue) • Gatra Vishlesha (Parts become loose & useless) • Distruction of sira, snayu & sandhi. • Jwara (Fever) • Daha (Burning) • Pipasa (Thirst) • Murcha (Unconciousness) Management: Excise withered tissue; cooling treatment should be carried out. Fine strained powder of rice mix with pieces of Tinduka (contains lot of tannic acid) or mixed with ghruta should be anointed. Wound covered by leaves of guduchi. Patient should be treated as for paittika cellulites. For scalds (snigdha dagdha) ruksha (dry) treatment should be carried out. Beewax, Madhuka (Bassia latifolia Roxb), Rodhara (Symplocos racemosa Roxb), Sarjaras, Manjishtha, Chandan, Murva should be powdered & then cooked with ghruta. This recipe is good for all types of dagdha (burn) PURVAKARMA: The Shalyakarma Mandir (O.T.) was made ready & furnished with Agnikarma Shalaka, Trifala Kashaya, Yashthimadhu Powder, Ghrutakumari Swaras, Prot, Pichu etc. The stove was kept outside the theater & Shalaka was made red hot. The patient was kept asked to lie down on table. The part of patient was washed first by Trifala Kashaya Preparation of patient: Diet should be given slimy. As it is minor procedure so soft, light & nourishing diet can be given before procedure. Surgeon should thorough examination of - shape of lesion, vital parts of body, strength of patient, disease & Season. Agnikarma can be performed in all seasons except Autumn & Summer. Agnikarma has been performed on Twaka (Skin) Mansa (Muscle), Sira (Vessels), Snayu (Ligament), Asthi (Bone), Sandhi (Joint) Materials used for Agnikarma: Twakagat (Skin) Agnikarma- Pipali (Piper longum Linn), faces of goat, cow’s teeth, arrow & Shalaka (rod) should be used. Mansagat (Muscular) Agnikarma - Jambavaustha (rod like instrument made up of black stone looking nut of Jambu fruit) Sira (Vessels),Snayu (ligament), Sandhi (Joints) & Asthigat (bones) Agnikarma- Honey, treacle & fats Different Agnikarma Shalaka: PRADHANKARMA- On the diseased skin of the patient the Samyakdagdha varna were produced by red hot Shalaka. The number of Samyakdagdha was from 5 to 30 according to extend of the diseased area. The dagdha varna were covered with Yashthimadhu powder (Glycyrrhiza Glabra) or with Ghrutakumari Swaras (Aloe Vera) Specific sites: • Head- frontal & temporal area • Glaucoma- eyebrows • Eyelids- root of eyelashes • Twaka, Mansa , Sira, Snayu, Asthi, Sandhi -at the place of vedana • As per diseases (as Vrana, Arsha etc) the most painful site for agnikarma Pattern of Agnikarma: Acharya Sushruta 4 types & additional 3 by Ashtanga Sangrahakar 1. Valaya (Circular) 2. Bindu (Dotted) 3. Vilekha (Linear) 4. Pratisaran (Flat) 5. Ardhachandra (Semicircula) 6. Swastika (Cruciform) 7. Asthapada (multitail) Surgeon can design according to site size & shape of lesion. PACCHATKARMA: • The samyak dagdha vrana were covered with prota of honey & ghruta. • Then proper pattabandhan should be done. • On next day avachurnan (sprinkling) of yashthimadhu powder was done. • On third day onward the varna were observed for any complication. • Agnikarma chikitsa can be repeated after seven days if required. |

KSHAR AND KSHARSUTRA
Kshara
Kshara is a kind of medication described in Ayurveda Texts for the management of various disorders . The word Kshara(क्षार) is derived from the root Kshar(क्षर्), means to melt away or to perish (क्षर् स्यन्दने). Acharya Sushruta defines as the material which destroys or cleans the excessive/the morbid doshas (Kshyaranat Kshyananat va Kshara). According to the preparation we can consider it to be caustic materials, obtained from the ashes after distillation and are mostly alkaline in nature.

Types of Kshara
According to the administration it is of two type 1. Paniya Kshara(for internal Medication) and 2.Pratisaraniya Kshara'(external application). The Paniya Kshara is mostly used for the treatment of diseases like artificial poison, abdominal lump, indigestion, calculus etc. The Pratisaraniya Ksara is used to apply on tumors, piles, fistula in ano, skin diseases etc.

- ^ Susruta Samhita 3/11
- ^ Susruta Samhita 11
Drugs Used
Many drugs have been advised by Sushruta and other Ayurvedic texts for the preparation of Kshara. The important among them are - Palasa- Butea monosperma, Erythrina indica, Terminalia belerica, Cassia fistula , Plumbago zeylanica, Holarrhena antidysenterica etc.
Method of Preparation
According to the three types of Ksharas are prepared on the basis of their strength. 1. Mild - Mridu, 2. Moderate - Madhyama and 3. Strong - Tikshna .The general procedure can be narrated as - 'Mridu'Bhașmīkaraņa (conversion to ash) Adding to water(1:6 ratio) Filtration(21 times) Distillation(boiling the ksarajala still all water evaporates) collection (process called lixiviation) 'Madhyama' Here the procedure is same some extra powders of Katasarkara Bhasma sarkara Ksheerapaka, Samkhanabhi( gravels of lime and ash,oyester-shell & core of conch-shell) are added to the boiling ksharajala before distilling it. 'Tikshna' Similar to madhyama kshara here added is the powders of drugs like Chitraka, danti, vacha etc. inplace of the lime stones.
Kshara Sutra
"Kshar Sutra" (क्षारसूत्र) is a sanskrit phrase in which Kshar (क्षार) refers to anything that is corrosive or caustic; while Sutra(सूत्र) means a thread. It is described by many Ayurvedic texts which originated and flourished in India. It is one among popular Ayurvedic treatment modality in the branch of Salyatantra followed by Susruta.
The Ksharsutra was first mentioned by the "Father of Surgery" Sushruta in his text named SUSHRUT - SAMHITA for the treatment of Nadi Vrana(sinus), Bhagandara (fistula- in - ano), arbuda(excision of small benign tumour) etc..Although Brihattrayi- the chief three texts of Ayurveda mention the use of kshara sutra, there is no description of their preparation properly. It was Chakrapani Dutta in late eleventh century in his book Chakradatta ,first mentioned the method of preparation with a clear-cut indication of its use in bhagandara and arsha(haemorrhoid). In his book Chakradutta explains the method that by smearing a sutra (thread) repeatedly in the latex of snuhi() and haridra(turmeric) powder makes the kshara sutra. Later authors like Bhavamishra, Bhaisajyaratnavali etc. also mention the same method. But because of brevity of preparation and inadequate explanation of procedure of application, it lost its popularity among Ayurvedic surgeons. Later in Rasatarangini a better preparation procedure was introduced still the credit of making it practically in use goes to Prof. P.J.Deshpandey and his coworkers. They rediscovered and standardized the ksharasutra in the present era . The Dept. of Shalya- Shalakya, Faculty of Ayurveda, IMS, BHU should be credited for the abundant use and popularization of this technique.
- ^ A hand book of Anorectal Disorders and their Ayurvedic Management, Dept. of Salyatantra , GAC, Tripunithura, Kerala
Method of preparation
The standard kshar sutra is prepared by repeated coatings of snuhi ksheera (latex of Euphorbia Nerrifolia), apamarg kshara (ash of Achyranthus aspera) and haridra powder over a surgical linen thread no. 20. This thread is spread throughout lengthwise in hangers. Each thread on the hanger is then smeared with snuhi latex with the help of gauze piece soaked in the latex. This wet hanger is transferred in kshara sutra cabinet.
The same process is repeated next day. Eleven such coatings with snuhi ksheera alone should be accomplished. The twelfth coating is done by first smearing the thread with ksheera and in wet condition thread is passed through the apamarg kshar. It is again transfer into the cabinet for drying. This process is repeated till seven coatings of snuhi ksheer and apamarg kshara are achieved. The final three coatings are completed with snuhi ksheera and fine powder of turmeric in the same fashion. Thus twenty-one coatings over the thread are completed.,

Mode of Action
Kshar Sutra is now a popular treatment modality in India for the management of fistula in ano. Many Clinical trials have done all over in different institutes to evaluate the action. In countries like Srilanka and Japan also many clinical trial has already done and established it. Precisely the action of Kshara sutra is thought to be due to its healing and cleansing effect according to Ayurveda. It can be suggested that due to the anti microbial action, and as a saton it allows the proper drainage of pus from the fistula, that leads to a proper healing. On the other hand the cutting effect of thread incises the skin gradually with out a surgical incision. Many studies confirms that it is more effective in the way of reducing hospital stay and less infection than the conventional seton therapy.Researches suggests that it is having the action of Excision, Scrapping, Draining Penetrating, Debridement , Sclerosing and Healing.it is Bactericidal and Bacteriostatic.
Types of Kshar Sutra
In the textual reference of Chakradatta and Rasatarangini we get only indication of the thread made up of Snuhi, apamarga and Turmeric. Susruta describes about many kind of Kshars like Karaveera, Palasa, Kadali etc. in Susruta Samhita. So many studies have already carried out with variations in the Kshara and the latex. The most remarkable are Guggulu Ksharasutra, Udumbara KS, Gomutra KS, Papaya KS, KS with Ficus carica latex etc.

CHEMISTRY OF LEHAS/ LEHYAS /RASAAYANAAS
The lehyas and Rasayanaas are semi solid, generally, pasty materials having both nutritious and curative effects. The product is generally prepared directly from the drug components after powdering them or cooking. The cooked/ powdered materials are mixed with jaggerry and heated slowly for a long time. The final product should have a semisolid/ solid honey type texture and appearance. Ghee, honey, spices etc are also added to the lehya / rasayana at the end of the preparations.
The active principles present in the raw drugs, with or without hydrolytic and pyrrolitic chemical changes get dissolved in the jaggery based rasayanam. Here the starch, protein and also the fat present in the raw materials give texture for the rasayana. Due to the presence of excess sugar of this product, faster absorption of the active principles may be taking place in the biological system because the sugar is known to get absorbed faster . However, available literature gives less information on the clinical study results on the active principles based curative effects of the lehya/ rasayana. Heat and water based changes of the rasayana / lehyas areinevitable because the final products are heated for a long duration for getting the actual paste like product. Inorganic chemicals/salts are also sometimes added as directed in rasachikitsa texts.

Anal Fistulae
Anal Fistulae
KSARA SUTRA IN MANAGEMENT OF ANAL FISTULA (BHAGANDRA)
Anal fistula is a track, which opens deeply in the anal canal or rectum and superficially on the skin around the anus. Sometimes, the track may have a single opening which is called a sinus. Generally, this track develops from ano- rectal abcess (Bhaganrda pidika), which bursts spontaneously or is incised inadequately. An anal fistula may occur with or without symptoms. There may be intermittent swelling with pain, discomfort and discharge of pus in the perineal region. This track does not heal due to fecal contamination, presence of unhealthy granulation tissue, and lack of rest to the part. This is a purely surgical condition but surgery is associated with a lot of complications and recurrence rate is also quite high after surgery.
Ksara sutra technique: The patient is made to lie down in lithotomy position taking all aseptic precautions. The Ksara sutra, with the help of probe specially designed for Ksara sutra is introduced from external orifice of fistula to the internal orifice inside the ano- rectal canal and is brought out through anus. The two ends of the thread are tied to form a loop. The wound is dressed with medicated oil/ghee. The Ksara sutra sutra is changed every week till the whole track is cut through and healed. Under post operative procedure patient is advised to use warm water sitz bath, application of medicated oil, laxative regularly during the treatment. Analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs can also be used, if needed.
Clinical trial
About 700 patients, including 200 patients of recurrent fistulae after operation have been studied by Clinical Research Enquiry at IMS, BHU, Varanasi with Ksara sutra therapy. Out of 700 patients 691 (98.7%) have been completely cured.
Further studies on 395 patients have been conducted in the Council’s Research Institutes and the outcome has been similar, since 386 (97.72%) patients responded.
This technique has been very well accepted/adopted by the practitioners of Ayurveda. The efficacy of this approach has also been proved by studies conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The facilities for the application and research on the techniques of Ksara sutra are further developed at Central Research Institutes of Ayurveda under the Council at New Delhi, Mumbai and Patiala. The Institutes have also arranged training programmes and workshops on the Ksara sutra technique. Further steps are proposed for its extension to other Institutes of the Council.
The patients undergoing Ksara sutra treatment are advised certain Do’s and Don’ts to facilitate early healing.
Do’s: Diet and habits
a) Strictly follow instructions given by the doctor.
b) Keep ano- rectal part clean and dry.
c) Consume lot of liquids.
d) Butter milk is very useful in these conditions.
Eat fruits and plenty of vegetable especially cucumber, radish, cabbage, carrot, green leafy vegetables, etc.
Don’ts
a) Avoid constipation and straining in the toilet.
b) Avoid chilly, spicy, non-vegetarian and other heavy food items.
c) Avoid sitting, standing and walking for long duration
The Ksara -Sutra being an OPD procedure does not require anaesthesia, heavy medication and hospitalization. After application of Kshara-sutra, patients can perform their routine duties. There are no side effects/complications like in continuance of stool, delayed healing leading to infections. Besides being economical the tissue damage and pain is relatively less in this therapy.

Shirodhara
Shiro means head and dhara means to flow. Shirodhara involves gently pouring liquids over the forehead, more specifically stated- on the ‘third eye’. It is the chakra point just above and between the eyebrows which is said to be the seat of human consciousness. The liquids used in shirodhara can include oil, milk, buttermilk, coconut water, or even plain water according to the various treatments for different benefits.
Shirodhara is used to treat various diseases including eye diseases, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, greying of hair, neurological disorders, memory loss, insomnia, hearing impairment, tinnitus, vertigo, Ménière's disease and certain skin diseases such as psoriasis. These days, shirodhara is mostly used non-medicinally at spas for its relaxing properties. The person wanting shirodhara is made to lie on his/her back and head is positioned under a metal bottle with a slow-flowing spout from which the oils streams gently onto the forehead. It has amazing quality of gently releasing stress and tension from the mind and body.

Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED) or penile dysfunction is a condition where a man has partial or total inability to maintain an erection long enough to engage in sexual intercourse. Erectile dysfunction is a condition and not a disease
This shloka says that in spite of being strongly desirable of performing sex with a partner who consents, he is not able to do sexual intercourse due to the looseness of penis (lack of erection). If with determination and continuous efforts, he performs the sexual activity, he is not able to make his penis stiff and gets tired with perspiration and frustration to perform sex. Thus "erectile dysfunction" or ED refers to the inability to achieve erection, an inconsistent ability to do so, inability to maintain an erection or the ability to achieve erection only for a short span of time.
Ayurveda further describes the physiology of erection and ejaculation through the following shloka
The process of erection and ejaculation has been explained through desire of man to have sexual activity and effects of vayu (air) in his body for the same. 'Aapaanavayu' is one of the five types of vayu located in the testicles, urinary bladder, phallus, umbilicus, thighs, groin, anus and colon. It has the functions of ejaculation of semen and excretion of urine and stools. When a man has desire to have sex, his reactions to the touch increases. Vayu located in his skin send signals to brain while causing sensation of touch. This results in his arousal or 'harsha' which in turn intensifies actions of vayu. The highly active vayu releases the 'teja' or heat of pitta. Tejas and vayu increase body temperature, heart beat and blood flow causing erection. If any of these body mechanisms do not work properly, it causes erectile dysfunction.
Apart from herbal remedies for erectile dysfunction and other treatments, 'Yoga' is also very useful in treating erectile dysfunction. It relaxes the entire body while relieving the stress that might be the cause of erectile dysfunction. Secondly, the ancient Indian art of exercises- the Yoga- also presents excellent cardiovascular conditioning that help in treating any physiological condition causing erectile dysfunction. A particular 'yoga sana' or yoga posture has been recommended for treating erectile dysfunction and that is the 'Khandasana.' Here are the instructions for doing Kandasana
Practice the kandasana yoga pose for a few weeks. Kandasana is good for the legs, thighs and muscles below the navel region. It also treats the stiffness in the hips and joint pains in the region of legs. Practicing Kandasana gives sexual vigor and is good for treating impotence including erectile dysfunction.
Ayurveda on Erectile Dysfunction
Ayurveda describes Erectile dysfunction or Linga Shaithilya through a shloka (verse) in Sanskrit language which goes as follows
Sankalpapravano nityam priyaam vashyaamapi sthreeyam || na yaathi lingashaithilyaath kadaachidyaathi vaa yadi | Shwaasaarthaha swinnagaatrshcha moghasankalpacheshtitaha || mlaanashishnashcha nirbeejaha syodetat klaibyalaxanam |
Ayurveda further describes the physiology of erection and ejaculation through the following shloka
Vrishunow basthimedram cha naabhyuuru vankshnow gudam | Apaanasthaanamantrasthaha shukra mootra shakrunti cha ||
The process of erection and ejaculation has been explained through desire of man to have sexual activity and effects of vayu (air) in his body for the same. Erectile Dysfunction Symptoms
As mentioned earlier, erectile dysfunction is not a disease but a medical condition, it has no symptoms according to the standard definition of any diseases symptoms. In fact, ED can be a symptom of some other diseases or body ailment. However, erectile dysfunction can be recognized by the following conditions- • The penis does not get or stay hard enough to perform sexual intercourse
- • Sex drive may be normal at times but there can also be changes in levels of sex drive
- • Not being able to start or finish intercourse
- • Lack of energy
- • Reduced interest in once favorite activities
- • Decreased athletic performance
- • Frequent mood swings
Erectile Dysfunction Causes
Erectile dysfunction (ED) can be caused by many factors including stress, anxiety over sexual performance, certain medications, injury to the penis, cardiovascular impairment etc.- • If there is any disturbance in the sequence of events occurring during sexual arousal, it may lead to erectile dysfunction. This may include disturbances in the nerve impulses in the brain, spinal column, around the penis and response in muscles, fibrous tissues, veins, and arteries in and around the phallus.
- • Injury to the penis or any other parts (nerves, arteries, smooth muscles, fibrous tissue) directly connected to penis that help in erection can also lead to erectile dysfunction. Injury to the pelvic region and surgeries for certain body areas like for prostate, bladder, colon, or rectal area may also result in erectile dysfunction.

Erectile Dysfunction Remedies
Avoiding the causes of erectile dysfunction (like smoking, drugs, stress, fatigue and other avoidable causes mentioned in the section- erectile dysfunction causes) is the main focus of treatment for erectile dysfunction.- • The Ayurveda treatment for erectile dysfunction is the 'Vajikaran' therapy. According to Ayurveda, vajikaran therapy increases the strength of a man like a horse to perform sexual act ('Vaaji' in Sanskrit means horse). Vajikarana refers to the therapeutic use of various aphrodisiacs and tonics as well as massages with herbal oil, exercises and proper diet for enhancing the reproductive capabilities and vigor of men while strengthening the body and overall well-being.
- • If anxiety for sexual performance is the cause of erectile dysfunction, discussions (as in psychological treatment sessions) are held with the man and his sexual partner. The partner is required to help with the treatment methods including gradual development of intimacy and stimulation.
- • Many herbs are used by Ayurveda for treating erectile dysfunction including Shilajit, Safed Musli, Ashwagandha etc. Ayurveduc massage with recommended herbal oils are also beneficial for treatment of erectile dysfunction. The ayurvedic herbal preparations are meant for proper supply of nutrients which are necessary for production of semen.
Yoga For Erectile Dysfunction
- • Sit on the floor with the legs stretched in front. Noe bend the knees and bring the heels close to the perineum (the area in front of the anus, toward the roots of the penis).
- • Hold both the feet with corresponding hand ( right foot with right hand and left one with left hand).
- • Draw the feet up towards the trunk, invert the ankle and pull the knees and thighs. Place the heels against the navel.

AGNI KARMA
Besides Panch Karmas, there is a wide range of therapeutic procedures which are equally unique and reliable for the concerned purposes.
In brief, I am presenting these one by one for your kind look as below. All these Karmas are originated from Ayurved.
AGNI KARMA
In Ayurved, there is a good answer for Frozen Shoulder, Stiff and Painful Joints. Corns, Warts also can be cured with it. It gives INSTANT relief.
It is my favorite 'Agni Karma'.
A proper location is decided by Vaidya as per the disease. Intellect and experience of Vaidya add surity in this procedure. A metalic rod of specific size & shape i.e. Agnikarma Shalaka is heated uptill it becomes red-hot. Then it is touched at the desired location. It is kept in contact with the skin not more than 10 seconds in each application.
After the procedure Aloe juice or Ghee or Turmeric powder is applied to the burnt area. The Shalaka is a specially prepared instrument having the tip made from Gold / Silver / Copper / Iron / Alloy of 5 metals.
This Karma must be performed under supervision of an Able Vaidya.

DHOOPAN
Besides Panch Karmas, there is a wide range of therapeutic procedures which are equally unique and reliable for the concerned purposes.
In brief, I am presenting these one by one for your kind look as below. All these Karmas are originated from Ayurved.
DHOOPAN
Application of medicinal fumes is a speciality of Ayurved. Wounds, Vagina, Anal orifice are the destination portions for 'Dhoop' (medicated fumes). Various complications in wounds, some vaginal disorders, anal disorders like haemorrhoids can be cured to some extent with fumes of specific herbs and other organic materials.
Some evidences have shown a curative action of medicinal fumes on pregangrenous tissues also. All such experiments need proper attention and practical research with documentation by reputed health institutes.
Dhoopan is also advocated by Ayurved for the sterilization of clothes, bed and the whole compartment of a newborn baby. Such herbal fumigation is also indicated for medicines storage room, operation theatre and patient's recovery room as well.
Practically, Dhoopan can play an important role, when Epidemics occur, like Swine Flu etc. Diseases like Amavat (RA), wet type of Skin diseases and Pratishyaya (Sinusitis) need specific type of Dhoopan. The tradition of 'Agnihotra' and various Yagyas in ancient periods are one sort of Dhoopan, as per my thinking.
Any Karma must be performed under supervision of an Able Vaidya.
