DISTRIBUTION
This species is probably a native of North China, from where it has been introduced, cultivated and naturalised in West Asia, Africa and other countries. Within India, it is found both cultivated and naturalized in Punjab. It is reported as cultivated from Jammu & Kashmir from Ravi to Indus reaching an altitude of 1800 metres, and in Maharashtra.
